Bio
Daniel was born on "Rue des Asters" in Geneva (Switzerland), which to a few letters might seem like a good omen. He took his first tap dance classes at the age of 5 and went on studying this dance discipline for 7 years with Pete Daniel. He then started taking classes with Fabrice Martin, in Lausanne (Switzerland). At 10 years old, Daniel started taking jazz and ballet classes. For the next 10 years, he trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary and modern'jazz and studied hip-hop, latin dance, Irish, lindy hop, salsa, piano, juggling, judo and the recipe for zucchini salad, which he still does not master. Daniel won the IDO Tap Dance World Championships in the children category at age 8, and went on to win six more gold medals in the junior and adult solo categories between 2006 and 2013. Over 10 years of participation at the World Championships, we won 16 world champion titles in the following categories: solo, trio, small group, formations, productions, small group with live music et Battle of the feet. In 2006, he was spotted at a tap dance workshop by Barbara Duffy, a great American dancer and teacher, former dance partner of Gregory Hines, who encouraged him to attend the pre-professional program of the Tap City festival in New York. |
Over the years, Barbara became his mentor; he owes his general culture about tap, his taste for improvisation and his knowledge of Gene Kelly’s language to her. Daniel has taken numerous classes and workshops in Belgium, France, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and in the USA with Barbara Duffy, Derick K. Grant, Lane Alexander, Jason Janas, Michelle Dorrance, Jason Samuels Smith and many other prominent tap dancers.
